8 Things to do in Split, Croatia

Split is a coastline Croatian city full of history, culture, and a bit of a party attitude.

Here are 8 things you can’t miss in Split:

Explore Diocletian’s Palace. Built in the 4th century AD with the city sprawling around it. Guided tours available.

After exploring, spend the afternoon wandering the old town, it’s packed full of restaurants, bars and shopping.

Eat the ice cream. Do you even need me to suggest that?! You’ll see shops and stands and stores everywhere…and there’s a reason, it’s delicious here.

Get out on the water! Split rests cozily on the Adriatic Sea and it would be a shame to make a visit here and not experience the gorgeous, salty, crisp, blue sea! There are loads of options for whatever you’re in the mood for… an afternoon party boat, relaxing on the sea, or water sport adventures!

Bačvice Beach is the most popular beach in Split with it’s jagged, rocky coastline and even a more proper pebbly beach. Grab some Karlovackos and catch some rays!

Marjan Hill. The highest point in the city offers beautiful scenery and a great view of Split.

Day trip to Hvar via the 90 minute ferry. You’ll experience some Croatian island life including the well-known party atmosphere of Hvar, great food and drinks, and sunshine!

Spend a day at Krka National Park. It’s an all natural park with waterfalls, stunning views, and the perfect blue water for swimming. Excursions are available with booking offices throughout the city. If you rent a car, plan a trip to Krka and Plitvice Lakes National Park (read about it here).
