Atrani, Italy

Just steps from the tourist hub of Amalfi, is the small, quaint, lesser known town of Atrani. When I say small, I mean you will probably drive right through Atrani before you even know it.

It’s a tiny fishing village built up through mazes of stairways and tunnels and what appears to be houses stacked one upon the other.

EAT

Le Palme Ristorante : the place you must eat in Atrani. The atmosphere is less than picturesque, right off the beach although a parking lot stands in the way. But the food and service well makes up for it (complimentary limoncello!) Be sure to order the lemon pasta but more importantly, if you can’t handle all that lemon, save yourself for the lemon dessert. I don’t know the actual name but you will see them on every other table and if you ask, the servers will know! It’s the largest lemon carved out and filled with delicious lemon sorbet.

A’ Paranza : delectable, fresh seafood prepared in creative dishes…try the risotto with scampi cream!

La Taverna di Pulcinella : venture over to Amalfi (a less than ten minute walk!) for this tasty Italian foodie spot. Don’t be surprised if you spot the owner with a complimentary Prosecco in hand!

PLAY

Boating : There’s no better way to enjoy the Amalfi Coast than from the water! And in Atrani, it’s practically a steal. In the main beach of Atrani, head past Le Arcate restaurant to a small boat stand. We rented a boat here for €100 for the day, including fuel! Check out these amazing photos from our day at sea.

Path of the Gods : Supposedly an incredible view if you can make it happen…we unfortunately couldn’t make it to Bomerano because of bus routes being closed due to fires. Click here to read another travel blogger’s tips on the hike!

Ravello : A town hidden in the clouds, this is a must see from Atrani or Amalfi. There are several options for buses to Ravello, but it is actually a very easy (although uphill) walk from Atrani. Ask a local for directions and you’ll notice some signage in the form of spray paint along the route. Check out some photos here!
