Batty Langley’s Hotel

In the states, we say “staycation” but on this side of the pond it’s a “holistay”….and I am so excited to share this amazing one with you! People are always asking me where to stay in London and sadly, I probably give mostly generic answers because well, I stay in my flat. Buuuut now I’ve been out and about and I have found the most perfect LONDON experience just for you! Whether this be your first trip to the Big Smoke, or your tenth, or even if you live here like me, Batty Langley’s is 100% the way to go for that real London feel. Settled in Spitalfields, it is honestly like my Downton Abbey dreams came true. It is decorated in such a classic, English fashion that you honestly feel transformed into Old London. From the cobblestone side street with the quintessential British pub across the street to sentimental naming of the rooms, Batty Langley’s is THE London experience.

For a little background…the building, an 18th century townhouse, maintains all of the character and history of its’ era while tailoring to the modern, luxurious necessities of today’s traveler. Today’s modern traveler who wants elegance without compromising tradition.

But who is Batty Langley? Bartholomew Langley designed handbooks in the 1700s to help clients plan and design their Georgian homes and gardens…of which, was also used in the design of this stunning hotel.

Upon entering (which truthfully isn’t an easy as you’d think! no doorknobs, just a buzzer to be let in!), you’ll find numerous quiet sitting areas for guests to unwind. These rooms are saved from the townhouse’s original floor plan!

There’s even a self service bar in the sitting room that runs on the honor system! I think I’ll pour a glass and head to the library…It’s these little touches that make this hotel feel unique and the guests feel at home!

We stayed the night in the Anna Maria Garthwaite junior suite, which was an absolute dream. I spent most of the time getting super wrinkly in that bathtub of perfection. But I need to point out the attention to detail here…that amazing wooden throne IS in fact the toilet! I know…a throne loo!

We arrived at tea time so tea arrived in our room!

Breakfast is served in your room (or if you choose, a room on the ground floor) but there’s nothing I love more than breakfast in bed! And a heart shaped bacon butty….swoon!

We even popped upstairs for a peak into the Earl of Bolingbroke suite….and if you’re willing to splurge, it’s worth every pence! From the hidden door in the bookshelf, the bathtub in the bedroom, or the spanning terrace with views of London…you will not be disappointed!

The East London Spitalfields location is perfect for exploring the East London markets (Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Columbia Road Flower Market, among others!) but it is also a less than 25 minute walk to the Tower of London. A perfect spot for exploring my favorite city 🙂

Although the stay at Batty Langley’s was complimentary, as always the views are all my own.
