Although most of the Algarve is known for dramatic beachside cliffs, sandy coastlines, and lush green golfing, the real charm of the area lies in the wild countryside, just moments away from all of the above. Most of this rustic farmland feels undiscovered and remote but the whitewashed fishing villages and beachside towns are close enough to offer a variety of dining and adventurous options. Looking for a luxe yet authentic stay in the Algarve countryside led us right to Fazenda Nova. The boutique country house offers ten rooms, all are suites with the most luxurious amenities as well as most offer private relaxation areas such as a garden or terrace. Aside from these peaceful areas, you’ll love relaxing by the serene pool or my favorite, the cabanas on the sandy beach. With such a small property, even when the hotel is at capacity there are plenty of quiet places to sit back and enjoy the scenery! Breakfast is served daily in the outdoor dining area and consists of delicious homemade items… from made to order eggs, fresh baked bread and croissants, to the local fruits and traditional meats and cheeses. Our breakfast table was equally as colorful as it was delicious! The on-site chef also prepares several meals weekly including locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes — the seafood is so fresh and the piri-piri chicken an absolute must! The Fazenda is perfect way to immerse yourself in the area known as the Algarve — it is centrally located and easy to access the many surrounding experiences, it’s peaceful and relaxing, and the dining options are delicious and true to the local fare!
