PASTEL PINK HAIR CARE

The summer festival season is upon us and what better way to get in the festival spirit than a little pastel pink hair?! Also, it just screams summer. A little cotton candy colored hair is good for you! The best part is that most of these color trends aren’t too permanent so you can test out the look on yourself. Are you ready for this bright summer trend? FESTIVAL READY : PINK PASTEL HAIR | the belle abroadI have been talking about this forever (and even did a little self treatment a while back!) so I was beyond ready for the commitment. Here are my top tips for caring for your pastel hair…

Number one tip : Go to a PRO. I headed to the color expert, Nana at Neville Salon, for a summer festival #pastelage. A pastel balayage, if you will. Using the Loreal Pro Color series, I went PINK.

Keep it covered! With my super light natural hair color, that somehow always goes bright blonde in the sun, I knew it wouldn’t last as long as I would have liked so I opted for sun hats and scarves to keep my locks out of the sun.

Wash it infrequently. I am a big fan of this anyway…and not just because I’m lazy, it’s also better for your hair to wash less! Shampoo can strip away the natural oils so slowly space out your washes and aim for 2x per week. PS..dry shampoo will be your best friend!

When you do wash, use cool water and products without sulfates. These will both help maintain the color and protect your hair!

Avoid heat tools. Yeah, it’s hard but just say no to those dryers, straighteners, curlers, etc!

Touch it up. It’s inevitable, you’ll need touchups if you want to maintain the color. Head back to your professional colorist, or do these at home!
