Travel Bucketlist 2015

So we spent most of the last week moving into our new flat, which has been an exciting whirlwind of packing, taxi rides, unpacking, Ikea trips, rediscovering all of the old things we shipped over that now feel like new, hammering and nailing things into walls, calling the maintenance man not once, not twice but three times (crazy Americans! don’t understand anything), and alas, trying to survive with no internet. It’s hard. Really hard. #firstworldproblems.

I know, I know, it is as bad as it sounds to be complaining about a week without internet but you know I depend on it a little for sanity at this point as I am a new transplant in this very large city with oh, just the amount of friends to count on one, maybe two, hands if I’m generous. Also, I am desperately trying to get registered with the NMC (Nursing-Midwifery Council) which I have learned is no easy task (which I frequently will complain about to anyone who will listen, I mean there is a nursing storage in the UK, am I right? And I am over-qualified for this job, right? Ah ha, but then, my handy maintenance man educated me on a very interesting news scandal happening related to an international serial killer posing as a nurse to get a job in the UK and killing many people… whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay please, by all means, double, triple check my qualifications.)

Quite a rant there. So no internet, maybe for a few weeks, and now I’m stuck in coffee shops sipping lattes to pay for the umm, 3 devices I have running on their broadband. Sorry, not sorry. On to the important stuff… My 2015 travel bucket list! It’s okay to start that in the middle of the year right?! Well I figured since we moved to Europe in the middle of year it’s fine to make some last minute goals for the year!

Greek Isles.. obviously I want to see the more popular ones, Mykonos and Santorini, but I am super intrigued by Kos and Zakynthos. What isles are your favorite? And what time of year?

Croatia… it looks so amazing and a little undiscovered. We are busy making plans to see Dubrovnik in August, what other cities are a must-see?

Prague… Ryan is itching to get to Prague as soon as possible! I am leaning toward November or December for the Christmas markets–I love a good market! We also have toyed with the idea of exploring Český Krumlov on the same trip…

Marrakech, Morocco…The food might be enough but then there’s also the markets and belly dancers. Belly dancers always win.

Stockholm, Sweden…because I really want to ride these swings at sunset and be super adorable on that bicycle with my hubs.

Monaco…I have forever been obsessed with the iconic Grace Kelly and what would I love more than to stroll the streets that made her a princess?! Also, sipping champagne while looking at fancy yachts doesn’t hurt.

Amalfi Coast…I find that often pictures can hardly do justice to the beauty we see with our eyes.. I counting on that here..

Okay now let’s see how many I can check off! 😉 Xx.

      1. If you’d like info on places to stay just let me know. We participated in a fantastic cooking class at this lovely B & B–all organic and very professional. It’s a nice venue all around. We stayed at a resort called Sirene Blue and loved it.

  1. I love a good bucket list! Marrakech is at the top of mine, but that will likely be next year. I’ll be all over France this summer instead. I’m with you on the markets and food in Morocco. They are definitely drawing me in!

  2. Those are all on my top 10 to visit when I move abroad. Except the Amalfi Coast. I’ve already been there and let me tell you It’s beautiful and you will love it. In each little town they are known for making a different product. I.E. Positano is known for tile so we got a tile trinket, one city is known for paper so we got a cool journal to write about our trip. Also, if you have time hop on a ferry and go to Capri for a bit. You won’t regret it

  3. Great bucket list, Caroline! I also recently visited Santorini and Hydra and don’t think you can go wrong with any island you pick. I wrote a couple of posts on these Greek Isles this week on our blog if you want to check them out. My husband really wants to visit Prague soon and I want to go everywhere on this list! Have fun! Can’t wait to read all about your adventures.

  4. I was wondering how life/nursing/ur new flat was going! Can’t wait to see pics of ur new place! Keep us posted on ur life!!!
I can’t wait for u to visit all these places!! Hopefully Justin and I can make a trip next year and get yalls advice on the best places to go! Ps – check out Cinque Terra in Italy…you can hike to all 5 villages…stunning…stay the night in one of them…we did Riomaggiore…it was the perfect mix of romantic, quaint, authentic and active with the hiking. We loved the views of the fishing villages and views from the hike more so then Almafi Coast…but then again we did just a car ride of the Almafi Coast…maybe if u added in visiting Capri it would be better? Cinque Terra is super touristy in the summer so maybe save it for a fun weekend getaway in the fall!
    Love and miss u!

  5. Great list! My cousins just got back from Croatia and said they particularly enjoyed Plitvice Lakes National Park. Might be worth checking out! Happy travels 🙂
