Our Stay
We arrived late in the evening to Shanghai after a delayed flight from Japan. Walking into our room, all you could focus on was the gorgeous panoramic view of the Bund. The river lined with gorgeous lights was the perfect welcome to Shanghai (+ nightlight)! The Shangri La spoiled us a bit — I love the little touches here! The pillow cases were embroidered with our initials…a little take home treasure to remember our stay!

an authentic Chinese massage experience
The Spa at the Shangri La is a peaceful oasis — the private treatment room is essentially a hotel room itself complete with a lounging area + full bathroom. If you opt for a treatment, plan to stay the day at the spa to enjoy all of the facilities!
The traditional Chinese massage is a bit different from other treatments — it’s all about repetition to work out the tension. It’s not for everyone so be fore warned! But it really does work out a lot of stress, even if you’ll be sore for days to come!

dining
The dining options at the Shangri La will shock you! The main dining restaurant is a buffet of sorts that includes almost any type of food you could want. You will get lost in the selections!
Another favorite dining option was Gui Hua Lou, a traditional Chinese restaurant. We were lucky enough to have a local ordering for us but I highly recommend the sautéed chicken with spices + red chili, steamed lotus root, and the duck skin stuffed with eight delicacies.

location
With views spanning across the river, the Shangri La has a stunning view of the city.
club level
Splurge for the club level : the 360 views of Shanghai are stunning from here! It is also a perfectly peaceful place to start your day with a gourmet breakfast. Head back in the late afternoon for an afternoon cocktail + canapés.
