Finding a new ‘hood

We spent the majority of this past weekend exploring various London boroughs to find the one that’s right for us. The quintessential London neighbourhood. And we walked 18 miles across this city to do it.

Here are the hightlights:

Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market

Notting Hill is everything my little American mind dreamed London would be. All white period conversions lining the streets and trees in perfect bloom. We ventured down Portobello Road exploring the almost 300 year old market, popping in and out of antique shops and snacking on halloumi wraps and fresh made donuts. Delightful.

We stumbled south of the river onto the Southbank Centre Market and guess what?! We ate more halloumi.

I snagged this pic on the Waterloo Bridge where we finished our adventure at Somerset House for drinks on the patio!

  1. LOVE this! We lived in London for a few years at Highbury and Islington and then again in Holloway so we were very close to Angel. I LOVE London! Enjoy flat hunting! x

  2. Great pictures! Good luck with your flat hunt! I’ll be in your position in about a half year. I was in your position as well in 2012, and had to live in not such a great neighborhood due to the high expenses. I hope your budget is a bit higher, so that you can live somewhere you really love πŸ™‚ Looking forward to your next posts about this topic.

  3. Don’t forget about North London, Belsize Park and Hampstead area is so different and so amazing! πŸ™‚ A bit more “local” feeling, very different than other parts.:-)

      1. I am waiting for your thoughts πŸ™‚ But I will assure you that it’s very green, relaxed and local πŸ™‚
And if you will need an interior designer in your new place, I will be more than happy to help πŸ™‚
